Examples of Prayer

Please find below the prayers the children learn and use at Sacred Heart. We ensure the children have a rich and varied prayer life to help support them in their faith development.

KS2 Beginning of the day prayers

Oh my God you love me,

you’re with me night and day.

I want to love you always,

in all I do and say.

I’ll try to please you Father,

bless me through the day

Amen

Oh Jesus, through the most pure

heart of Mary, I offer to you,

the prayers, works, sufferings

and joys of this day,

for all the intentions of thy

divine heart and the Holy Mass.

Amen

Oh my God, because you are so good,

I am very sorry,

If I have sinned against you,

And by the help of your Grace,

I will try not to sin again,

Amen

The children regularly make up their own beautiful prayers.

Good Friday

Tired, alone, weary Dragging the heavy wooden cross

Jesus had been betrayed by his disciples

Chief priests placed a crown of thorns on his head

The guards played games for his clothes

Teasing and taunting him in every way.

They nailed him to the cross

As As the sky turned black, he cried out in despair

His mother Mary mourning his devastating death

They laid him in a tomb, alone but not forgotten.
