Understanding the World

Using Technology

Today we have been using the Beebots. These are simple programmable toys. The children learned how to make the Beebots travel along in a straight line down their road. We then tried racing the Beebots.

Watching things grow

The children have planted bean seeds and have been exploring the way they have grown or in some cases failed to grow. Today they have looked carefully at several of the plants and talked about how they have changed and any differences between them. We read Jasper's Beanstalk again too.

Observing Change

The children in Nursery have been looking at different materials and observing how they change.

SNOW

We observed the effect of the warm classroom on the snow. It took ages to melt. We squashed it in our hands and it melted more quickly.

CHEMISTRY

We are mixing different powders and liquids together. We made lemon volcanoes with lemons, bicarbonate of soda, food colouring and washing up liquid.
