Literacy
Reading is a whole school priority. We aim to foster a love of reading in all our children. We have a book corner that is well stocked with a variety of books and many story baskets for children to recreate favourite stories. We share ERIC (Everyone Reading in Class) time each day and the children have an opportunity to vote for the end of day story.
Our topics are supported with a range of fiction and non-fiction books to enrich and extend their learning.
We follow the Foundation stage of the Little Wandle Phonics and Early Reading Programme which gives children a secure foundation to build upon as they begin their journey to become confident readers.
The children are supported in this learning and given the necessary tools to develop, practise and apply these skills when they are ready.
