Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium at Sacred Heart

What is the Pupil Premium?

The pupil premium is a government grant given to schools to help close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. It is also intended to support pupils with parents in the armed forces, known as the 'service premium'.

Eligibility Criteria

The pupil premium is allocated for pupils who meet specific eligibility criteria, such as:

  • Pupils who are eligible for free school meals (FSM)
  • Pupils who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years
  • Looked-after children (LAC)
  • Previously looked-after children (PLAC)
  • Pupils with parents in the armed forces

For more detailed information on eligibility, please visit the government's pupil premium page.

How We Use the Pupil Premium

At Sacred Heart School, we are committed to using the pupil premium to support our pupils effectively. Our strategy includes:

  • High-Quality Teaching: Investing in professional development for our teachers to improve teaching quality across the curriculum.
  • Targeted Support: Providing 1-to-1 tuition and small group interventions for literacy and numeracy.
  • Wider Strategies: Supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of our pupils through extracurricular activities and mental health resources.

Impact of Our Pupil Premium Strategy

We continuously monitor and evaluate the impact of our pupil premium strategy to ensure it meets the needs of our pupils. Our progress tracker helps us identify gaps and measure success, contributing to a positive learning environment.

Reporting and Transparency

We publish our pupil premium strategy statement annually by 31 December, using the template provided by the DfE. This statement outlines how we are spending the grant and its impact on our pupils. You can view our latest strategy statement on our school website.
