On Monday 11th November 2019, Year 6 visited the Poppy Factory in Richmond. They spent the morning there learning about how to make Poppies and the history of Remembrance Day. It was a unique opportunity for our pupils to mark the 2 minutes silence in such an amazing location.
Remembrance Day was also marked in school
At 11 O’clock, the school fell silent for 2 minutes to remember all those who have lost their lives in the World Wars and major conflicts around the world. The children spent time in their lessons reflecting in the reasons why we pause on the 11 O’clock on the 11th November.
We would also like to thank Fr Reg who joined us in school on Monday afternoon to lead a short service of remembrance in our newly transformed Prayer Garden – now aptly named ‘The Poppy Garden’. The service was very insightful and Years 5 & 6 were very respectful.
Thank you to our wonderful PTA for taking all the poppies created by the pupils and staff to transform our Prayer Garden. They were fantastic. Thank you to Gemma Redington for the idea and for being the driver of the project behind the scenes.
