On the 15th October we went to Pupil Parliament in York House. We were very lucky as in past years they have not held this meeting of pupils in the historic chamber where actual council meetings commence. The topic that we had to create out speech on was ‘Should 16 year olds be allowed to vote?' We were asked whether we agreed with Sir Vince Cable that 16 year olds should vote or if we disagreed. We were separated into five different colour coded groups; we as representatives of the same school stayed in the red group.
The way we read our speeches was: we had half the quantity of speeches first, had a break, then did the second round of speeches, again in front of Madam Mayor. We then asked Madam Mayor and the ten finalists a few questions, after that we voted who would be our Pupil Parliament Mayor and our Pupil Parliament Deputy Mayor.
That was our day at Pupil Parliament – Amelie & Will.
