Introduction
The Kindergarten, situated within Sacred Heart School, is an independently run, non-profit making pre-school which prepares children for a smooth transition into Sacred Heart School or other primary schools. We aim to provide a happy, caring, stimulating and secure learning environment, meeting the needs of each child through planned activities, and offering appropriate play facilities and experiences. The setting is registered to provide care for 20 children, between the ages of 3 and 5 years. There are currently 25 children on roll attending a variety of morning sessions. The setting opens five days a week during school term time and the session runs from 9am until 12.05pm.
Outdoor Play
The Kindergarten is entirely self-financing. Fees are calculated termly and payable half termly. Early years funding is received for every three- and four-year-old child and the fees reflect this deduction. The Kindergarten implements a higher staff-to-child ratio than is required by Ofsted enabling the staff to give time and attention to each child. We encourage children to experience and benefit from the resources provided and allow them to explore and be adventurous in safety. Activities are put in place to promote children’s development in speaking, listening and thinking in an environment where children can flourish. A range of equipment and opportunities during outdoor play allows children to develop physically, grow in confidence and develop their individual skills. Any new equipment and fixtures are purchased from monies received through fundraising events organised by parents.
The last Ofsted inspection was in March 2008 and was extremely good. It highlighted the exceptionally high quality learning environment where children are interested and motivated to learn, and are caring and sensitive towards each other, thus developing close friendships. Outings include a visit to the Woodland Gardens in Bushy Park for a sponsored search during the Spring Term; parents are asked to participate as well!

Registration
Applications for Registration should be made directly to Sacred Heart Kindergarten. We welcome applications from families with children prior to their third birthday.
